How far is it to the beach from Villa Santai ?
Villa Santai is located on a gently sloping hillside, surrounded by rice terraces, in the tranquility of the country side of east Bali. It takes just 15 minutes to get to the beach by car. Taxis or a private car with driver are available at the villa.
Are there restaurants and shops near Villa Santai ?
There are a few restaurants within walking distance, and many more in the city of Amlapura, just 10 minutes away. There you can find a wide range of traditional local and international restaurants and bars, supermarkets, a kid’s waterpark, a doctor, pharmacies, spas, and ATMs.
How do we get around in Karangasem ?
The best option is to use a private car with driver. They are cheap in Indonesia and our staff can help you to arrange this at a good local rate. For around 400k IDR per day or 30 US$, not including petrol, the car with space for up to 6 people will bring you anywhere you want to go and standby during the day. Bicycles are available at no extra charge, taxis (cheap in Indonesia too at approx. US$5 per 30 minutes), and motorbike hire is also available.
Is there an airport or harbor transfer service ?
Yes, we can arrange airport or harbor transfer to and from Villa Santai. A car and driver will meet you on arrival in Bali and bring you to the villa.
Can I smoke in my room ?
No, we have a strict non-smoking policy in our guest rooms. But you may smoke on your terrace or at the table in the garden.
Can I eat in my room or get room service ?
Sorry no, we serve breakfast in the dining room or on the terrace in the garden and guests are not allowed to eat in their rooms for hygiene reasons.
How do we obtain information on the best places to visit while in Karangasem ?

Our staff can give you advice, and our driver knows the most scenic roads through the countryside to drive to the Balinese mother temple of Besakih for instance, which is located on the slopes of the Mount Rinjani volcano, just about 30 minutes from the villa.

Can we bring the children to Villa Santai ?
The villa is located in a quiet area away from the touristic areas of the coast. There is a lot of space to play and for quiet walks through the hills and rice fields. Please have a look at the pictures gallery. The villa also has an open stairway without reeling. Please consider if the kids can use it safely.
Is it possible to add an extra bed to the guest rooms to accommodate more people ?
Each guest room is fitted with a king-size bed and restricted to occupancy of 2 people only. Kids under 12 may share the bed with their parents of-course. There is a couch in the TV room downstairs on which a 7th person can sleep, and an extra bed can be added to the sitting room upstairs.
Can I host a party at Villa Santai ?
Special event arrangements can only be made with prior approval from the villa owner.
Can we use credit cards to make payments in Karangasem ?
Credit cards are widely accepted by the larger restaurants and resorts but smaller companies, including the local supermarkets and car hire businesses, may only accept cash.
How do I pay for my accommodation at Villa Santai ?
To secure the booking with us, your payment is received by your online booking agent, or a payment of a 30% deposit to us by PayPal. The balance is paid on check-in. We accept payments in cash in different currencies (Indonesian Rupiah, US Dollar, Australian Dollar, British Pounds). No credit card payment facilities are currently available.
Is the villa rate subject to government tax and service charges ?
There are no extra charges. Our published room rates already include 21% tax and services.
Should we tip the staff at Villa Santai ?
Although a service charge is included in our rates, if you are happy with the services received from our staff, you are welcome to leave an extra tip, it will always be appreciated.
What is the cancellation policy?
The deposit is non-refundable.
What is the best time of year to visit Bali?
Bali is blessed with a warm tropical climate all the year round. Although climatic conditions are becoming less and less predictable, the dry season generally runs from April to September and the rainy season from November to March. Even during the rainy season, however, there is still plenty of sunshine. High season is from 1 July till 30 September and mid-December to mid-January.
